My No-Bake S'Mores Trail Mix recipe takes only a few minutes of effort, and is a fun, make-ahead camping snack. Fantastic sweet & salty flavor combo!

A pan of smores snack mix, with golden grahams cereal, chocolate chunks, peanuts, pretzels, and mini marshmallows, drizzled with white and milk chocolate. Overlaid text says Smores Trail Mix,

Today’s recipe is another one of those times where I had a great idea, designed up a whole recipe for it, then Googled and found out that it - a S’mores snack mix - was already a thing that existed.

To add insult to injury, so did the other recipe I came up with at the same time - No Bake S'Mores Bars!

In both cases, I thought it would be the perfect way to enjoy the flavours of classic s’mores, just in an easy snack format. I was thinking more about drive days for road trips, apparently it’s a popular thing for movie nights.

Either way, it’s a good snack mix, using smaller versions of all your favorite things about s’mores - graham cracker cereal, chocolate bits, and miniature marshmallows.

It’s drizzled with both milk chocolate and white chocolate just to bind it all together and bit a bit ~extra~ about it!

Anyway, regardless of how and when you serve this easy treat, it’s sure to satisfy any sweet tooth, and be enjoyed by the whole family.

With very little effort, it makes 16 portions - assuming about 1 cup per portion.

As a no-bake recipe, it’s the perfect snack to make during the summer months. No fire required, just a little bit of microwaving - then a little bit of waiting for it to set up.

Whether you bag it up as a lunch box treat, put some out as after-school snacks or - as we do - pack it up as an handy road snack... the sweet and salty flavor combo is definitely a winner!

So, let’s get to that recipe, and what you’ll need in order to throw on a batch!

Btw, if you’re into S’mores - either as a campfire dessert, or as a delicious treat at home, check out my S'Mores Board post!

A bowl of smores trail mix, with golden grahams cereal, chocolate chunks, peanuts, pretzels, and mini marshmallows, drizzled with white and milk chocolate.

    Ingredients

This is a really simple recipe - you shouldn’t have any trouble finding everything you need in pretty much any larger grocery store.

    Some ingredient notes for you:

    Golden Grahams Cereal

    1. You can swap Teddy Grahams for the Golden Grahams cereal if you like - apparently that’s a popular option for other versions of S’Mores Trail Mix.

    2. If you need your s’mores snack mix to be gluten-free, Cascadian Farm Honey Vanilla Crunch cereal is a wildly popular subsitution in the gluten-free community.

    Chocolate

Obviously a S’Mores trail mix recipe is going to need some type of chocolate. This one actually uses two - Milk Chocolate Chunks (both in the bars, and melted as a drizzle), and White Chocolate Chips, melted and drizzled on.

That said, you have some wiggle room on what you use.

If you’re a s’mores purist, you can break up Hershey Bars into small pieces. Realistically, any chocolate bars would work... and most will taste better than Hershey Bars, LOL!

(Sorry, my time in the USA wrecked them for me. I have no idea what they do to American Hershey bars, and I don’t get how you can make chocolate taste *gross*!)

    Anyway.

You can use white Almond bark for the drizzle, if you have some on hand that you want to use up.

    Mini Marshmallows

This was an ingredient I had to deliberate on for a while.

I kind of wanted to go with dehydrated marshmallows, as I felt that crunchy marshmallow bits would be fun, and probably more “trail mix” than fluffy marshmallows.

Then I saw the price for them, and decided that regular mini marshmallows would work just fine, LOL!

If you’re like me - of the “Peeps and Marshmallow Bananas should be at least a bit stale” camp, I’d spread them out on a baking sheet and let them air dry for a couple days, before making this snack mix.

    Pretzels & Peanuts

Are pretzels and peanuts in line with a traditional s’mores flavor profile? No, not really.

The thing is, it’s a trail mix! Having only Golden Grahams, marshmallows and chocolate sounds like cereal, TBH.

Peanuts are a pretty standard thing in any form of trail mix or GORP (It’s right in the name, there - “Good Old Raisins and Peanuts”!), so clearly they belong in this one.

Then I went a little different, and added some pretzels.

There’s just a LOT of sugar in the mix, otherwise. Adding some salty goodness makes for a much more balanced mix, IMHO.

We tend to use mini pretzel twists, but feel free to use the mini pretzel sticks, if you prefer.

How to Make No Bake S’Mores Trail Mix

The full recipe is in the printable recipe card at the end of this post, here is the pictorial walk through:

Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or wax paper, set aside. (You can skip it if you’d like, but paper = less mess after!)

In a large bowl, combine Golden Graham cereal, mini marshmallows, pretzels, 1 cup of the chocolate chunks, and the peanuts.

2 part image showing all of the smores snack mix ingredients in a bowl before and after mixing them together.

Divide the cereal mixture between the two prepared baking pans, spread evenly over each baking sheet. Set aside.

Smores trail mix spread out over 2 baking sheets.

Measure the white chocolate chips into a clean microwave safe bowl. Carefully heat for 30 seconds at a time - stirring after each - until the white chocolate is melted and smooth.

Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the each large cookie sheet of S’Mores Snack Mix.

3 part image showing a bowl of white chocolate chips, a pastry bag filled with melted white chocolate, and the white chocolate drizzled over the 2 pans of smores snack mix.

Place the remaining chocolate chunks in a microwave safe bowl. Carefully heat for 30 seconds at a time - stirring after each - until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

Drizzle the melted chocolate over the two pans of S’Mores Snack Mix, set aside.

3 part image showing a bowl of chocolate being melted and put in a pastry bag.

You can allow it to set up at room temperature for a few hours, or transfer the cookie sheets to the fridge to set up for 30-45 minutes or so.

Once set, break the delicious snack mix up into small pieces.

Serve in a big bowl, or make individual treat bags. S’Mores Trail Mix in cellophane bags, tied with a ribbon make a nice little gift or party favour.

2 part image showing 2 baking pans of homemade s’mores trail mix after being drizzled with chocolate.

    Leftovers

Leftover snack mix can be stored in an airtight container - like a Ziploc Bag.

It’ll be at its freshest for 1-2 days, but will be good to eat for weeks. (If you’re like me, and prefer marshmallows on the stale side!)
