This Easy Halloween Trail Mix recipe has it all - a great mix of flavours, colours and textures ...nuts, raisins, seeds, and - of course - CANDY!
We’ve been having a great time coming up with our own combinations of some healthier ingredients, with our favourite mix-ins that are... maybe not as healthy.
After all, every trail mix needs to have at least a little chocolate, right?
Speaking of chocolate, this whole thing started off with our S'Mores Trail Mix, which - let’s be real - probably stretched the definition of “trail mix” a bit far. Snack mix? Good enough.
Since then, we’ve posted our Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix and Thanksgiving Trail Mix ... with more to come!
I was working on a roundup post of Halloween Recipes for my main blog, when I decided that we should also make a Halloween snack mix... and here we are!
The first version of this recipe actually had a caramel corn base - but we decided that it had ended up being more “fancy popcorn” than an actual trail mix.
Also, the logistics didn’t work - the caramel corn was far too hydrophilic to act as the base of a trail mix, and cut the potential shelf life.
Second Time's the Charm!
So, we adjusted our recipe, and came up with this fantastic sweet and salty trail mix.
It’s a quick snack that’s great to throw together before a fall road trip, to enjoy on a hike to see the leaves change colour... but also works well for after-school snacks, or as a delicious snack for a Halloween themed movie night.
The best part? It only takes a few minutes to make!
Just be forewarned - this tackles our sweets cravings a little TOO well - it’s way too easy to plow through a batch. The sweet and salty mix, with a variety of textures? Amazing.
Anyway, let’s look at what you’ll need, to put a batch on, yourself!

Ingredients
This recipe uses super basic ingredients, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding everything you need in pretty much any larger grocery store. (Seasonality of the candy corn aside, anyway!)
For us, we’ll usually just get it all in one shot at Bulk Barn - super convenient, and good quality!
Anyway - this time around - I really don’t have much in the way of ingredient notes.
Overall, you’ll need:
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds (ie: Pumpkin seeds in the shell - white)
Roasted Salted Pepitas (ie: Shelled pumpkin seeds - green)
Whole Blanched Almonds
Candy Corn
Reese’s Pieces
Raisins.
In terms of raisins, you can use golden raisins or dark / sultana raisins. I like to use a mix - half and half, of both.
